boating in Port Ludlow |
|
Boating is the favorite pastime of many Port Ludlow residents. Port Ludlow Bay has been a destination for boaters long before the homes and the marina were built: Many people chose to purchase a home in Port Ludlow because they want to live near the Port Ludlow Marina. The Port Ludlow marina has over 300 slips ranging from 20' to 50' plus about 200 feet of side ties for larger boats: A couple dozen of the Port Ludlow waterfront homes have their own docks. All of these homes are inside Port Ludlow Bay and most of them are on the south side. You don't have to own a boat to go boating in Port Ludlow. You can take a nature tour or go on a two hour sail with Captain Bry. The marina rents skiffs and kayaks. If you want to participate in an organized kayaking group, there is also an active kayaking club. Port Ludlow has an active yacht club which welcomes all boaters, even those "between boats". Many of the sailboats race on the weekends. There are social events and cruises year round: Port Ludlow is also home to the Etchells fleet 26, one of the loveliest groups of small sailing vessels you'll ever see. The north bay Port Ludlow waterfront and waterview homes have ringside seats to watch these white birds as they come flying out of Port Ludlow Bay when they race on Thursdays: Port Ludlow is a perfect jumping off point for exploring Puget Sound. If your home port is Port Ludlow, you are within a day's travel from Victoria & Vancouver Island, the San Juan Islands, the Deception Pass Recreational Area, Bell Harbor, or any of the south sound boating destinations: |
